Domains are one of the most useful things you will ever have in your business because it allows someone to access all the information about your business (e.g your website) and you don't have to do anything! While you don't need to know everything about domains, we created a quick list of tips and FAQ's to help you get going with your website and/or funnel set up.

Domain Tidbit #1:

Domains (also known as URLs, but basically www.mywebsite.com) are unique like addresses are unique. If I ask you to put an address into your GPS, it will only take you to one place. If you did not end up at your intended destination, you probably put in the wrong address. This means that www.mywebsite.com only goes to one website and cannot be used for both a website and a funnel.

If you have more than one place you want to represent your business, you will need more than one domain/URL. So while your website might be showing for www.mywebsite.com, your funnel/landing page will need a different URL such as www.mylandingpage.com.

Before you rush out to buy a new domain for your funnel/landing page, let's talk about sub-domains. Sub-domains are similar to an apartment in an apartment building. If you are going to visit a friend who lives in an apartment building, just having the address won't get you all the way, you also need to have their apartment number. Similar to this, with a domain, you can create a sub-domain which will allow you to host your funnel/landing page on that domain.

Here's an example:

www.mywebsite.com - This is where your main website is being shown/hosted

www.meet.mywebsite.com - This is the sub-domain where you can now host your landing page, funnel, bridge page, secondary website, etc.(NOTE: You do not have to use the word meet, you just need to use at least one letter followed by a period and it must be before the main url). Other examples could be:

And so on and so forth

Now that you know about sub-domains, you will need to go to your registrar (likely the website you purchased the domain on - GoDaddy, Cloudflare, etc.) and create this sub-domain. Here is link to how to do this for GoDaddy:

Now that your subdomains are set up, you can follow the directions in our domain setup video to get them showing the content you want to show!

Domain Tidbit #4:

Did you know that www.mywebsite.com and mywebsite.com are not actually the same URL? When you add your domain within the app, you will be able to choose which one you want to be the root domain. Then within your registrar account (where you just were), you will need to add a redirect so that the non-root domain redirects to the root domain you selected within the app.

In other words, if you add www.mywebsite.com as a domain to the app, head into your registrar and set up a redirect for mywebsite.com to send all traffic to www.mywebsite.com. That way, no matter which one somebody types in, they will end up at the right spot! Here's a few helpful articles to set that up:
